Sponsor A Child
Most treatment protocols for
childhood cancer followed in Bangladesh
include a 9 month - 1 year primary treatment phase, followed by a 2 -3 year
maintenance treatment phase. The latter is critical as it increases the
chances for long-term survival. Many families opt out of brining their
child in for the maintenance treatment, as they misguidedly think that their
child is already cured. Some factors include the cost, logistical
difficulties of staying in the city for long periods of time, lack of
understanding about the importance of the maintenance treatment. As a
result, survival rates have remained low.
For a cost of $35 a month, one
can sponsor the maintenance treatment for a child with cancer i.e. the child has
already completed their primary treatment, the cancer is mostly contained and
the maintenance doses will help increase chances of long-term
survival.
You can choose to send money for this child, which will
sponsor the completion of his/ her treatment.
You have the option of making a lump sum payment for the remaining
portion of the treatment, or you can make monthly installments to cover the same
cost. The child has been chosen
based on doctor's recommendations and the most immediate need.
